Travel in Istanbul by Tram by http://www.letsgoistanbul.com

In Istanbul the tram that runs along the Touristy peninsula is Probably the most convenient and easy way of transport that runs from Eminonu to Zeytinburnu. All Major touristy attractions are located in the Old Istanbul peninsula and the tram is passing near to all of these places.   Recently all trams in the Eminonu-Zeytinburnu line has changed. They are now more modern and efficient. And also the tram stops are changing to comply with the new trams.

The starting point is the Eminonu port where the spice market, New mosque are located and also you can take a Bosporus boat from the harbor. Afterwards it stops at "Sirkeci", The Famous Orient Express train station. Than it leads to "Gulhane", where in summer local festivals are being held. The third stop is the "Sultanahmet". Main center of the touristy area. Blue mosque, Hagia Sophia, Topkapi palace are in walking distance. Tram takes the pedestrian street and follows the Divan yolu and leads to "Cemberlitas". And afterwards to "Beyazit". This stop is where you should get off to visit the Covered bazaar. Also The Istanbul University is in walking distance. The next stop is the "University"; the literature Faculty is located here. And the following stop is the "Laleli", Laleli is mainly a hotel area, many Hotels are located in this region and many shops are open till late hours. The next stop is "Yusufpasa", there is a connection to the Metro line to the Airport. Afterwards the tram will continue to its route however those are mostly the residential locations that have not so much interest.
Tram tokens can be obtained on the stops and costs 1,3 YTL (less than 1 USD).

Tram line between Eminonu and Kabatas is active :. The new line passes from the old Galata bridge, follows Karakoy and Findikli districts and reaches to Kabatas. With this new line it is very easy to reach Dolmabahce palace, which is just short walking distance to Kabatas.

New Funicular line between Taksim and Kabatas is active now. The new line finicular systen connects Kabatas to the Taksim square in less than two minutes. With the help of this new line it is new possible to travel from Levent district to Ataturk airport by using tram and metro.

Nostalgic Tram

In old Istanbul, Trams were the most effective transport items. However motor cars has replaced them very quickly and became the favorite transports.

Istanbul is setting new tram lines and there are also some working already. But two Trams are very special, that's a nostalgic tram to remember the past. In 19th-century a traditional tram was running along the Grande Rue de Pera, today's Istiklal Street connecting Taksim Square to Tunel Square. After having been taken out of service in the 1950s, the Istiklal Caddesi tram on Europe and Kadikoy - Moda tram on Asian side was restored and revived. Although its not an efficient means of transport, it is a good adventure to travel with these old nostalgic trams.

The Nostalgic Tram that runs along the Istiklal street connects Taksim square to Tunnel Square. Taksim square is the main square of Istanbul and Istiklal street is one of the liveliest street of Istanbul. Walking along the Istiklal street is very fun and on the way back if you feel tired, the best alernate is the Nostalgic Tram.
Tram tokens can be obtained from the operator and it is less than 1 USD.
